I know we are, we are the lucky ones

shirt: DIY
shorts: H&M
belt: H&M
shoes: forever 21
bracelet: juicy

Nothing brightens my day like wearing a new pair of shoes! Especially these adorable gold flecked wingtips from forever21. They were the perfect little eclectic piece to add to this funky outfit. I was also very excited to style my latest DIY creation. I am really going to miss wearing crop tops when it starts getting cold out!

Might I say its good to be back!

crop top DIY

I've been trolling youtube as of late, and I'm like obsessed with all of these beauty and fashion "gurus". Like they come second to my obsession with fashion bloggers. Anyhoo, I recently found this DIY from a youtube-er called Macbarbie07. I love crop tops and I always see the ones in American Apparel and think to myself "I could so do this to one of my t-shirts!" Well Bethany (Macbarbie07) has done just that and then she goes on to show different ways to wear crop tops which are all pretty cool. Not all of them are my style, but I don't judge her style and I think she looks great. The DIY is so simple, you guys will love it. So here are MY results:
My t-shirt was just an old one I had laying around, so I have no idea where it is from. The shorts are from pac sun and the belly ring is from hot topic. Finally HERE is the link to the video. Sorry I haven't been posting a lot lately, I will try to post more next week!

"The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides."- Audrey Hepburn

The Audrey quote because I'm so feeling her look right now. However, because I have been unfortunately unable to grow the "cojones" to chop off my hair like hers, I am in need of a celebration for my current hair length. So I decided to curl it! Now for those of you who know me, you know that my hair is extremely thin and straight, so you are probably thinking, "Those curls will never stay!" I thought the same thing so I did my best to make sure they would stay for as long as possible!
This is what my hair looked like at the beginning of the day.
This is what my hair looked like after a full work day.
So the curls did fall a bit but I am pretty impressed with the results! Now I am going to share my secrets with you!
Things you will need:
1) Volumizing mousse or spray
2) A hair dryer
3) Bobby Pins
4) Curling Iron
5) (Tons of) Hair spray
(optional: heat protection spray, round brush, clips, bandana/scarf)

Step 1- Wash your hair but use less conditioner than you might normally use. When you get out of the shower, comb out any tangles in your hair and part your hair. Towel dry a bit so that your hair is not soaking wet and apply your mousse or spray. I use Pantene Pro-V Mousse for fine hair which I purchased at Wal-Mart.
This is what one little curl pin looks like!
Step 2- Use your hair dryer to dry your hair completely. You can use your round brush a bit if you want, but I chose not to in order to avoid smoothing out any volume. After the hair is completely dry, I sprayed the crap out of my hair with hair spray. My hairspray is called Diamond Shine 24-hour firm hold hairspray. I purchased this from Sally Beauty Supply.
Step 3- Curl it! Use your curling iron to curl 1-2 inch sections of hair. When I curl my hair I use clips to section it, but you can curl it how ever you are comfortable! After you curl each section, use bobby pins to pin each curl in a little circle against your head.
Ready for bed!
Step 4- After you have finished pinning all of your curls, spray your hair again with hairspray. After that I took my hair dryer and put it on high heat low air speed and warm my curls for a minute or two.
Step 5- Almost done! At this point you should have a head full of little curls pinned down. If you think that your curls will stay you can take out the pins after an hour or so, spray and go. If you don't think they will stay and you have done all of this in the evening you can wrap your hair in a bandana and go to sleep! Wake up in the morning, take you pins out and smooth it out and you're good to go!
I hope you all enjoyed this! If you try it please let me know what kind of results you get!

new scarf thingy in action

shirt: pac sun
shorts: delia's
vest: forever 21
shoes: vans website
scarf: DIY

Oh man, so much angst! I didn't mean to be making such an angry face! Well this is what my DIY scarf from my last post looks like executed in a full outfit, what do you think?
The vest is one of those things that I've had for a while that I never really wore. But I knew that I would find inspiration to wear this one day and that's why I never got rid of it! It's kind of a velvety material so its not the best option for summer, but it was just fine today because I didn't spend much time outside.
Also, I don't care what anybody says; I love my vans! I've had these for like 6 years and they are so comfortable and durable. I think they add a certain attitude to the look. I also tried teasing my hair a bit so it would gain some volume, but it doesn't appear to have worked! That's all for now!

Have a wonderful day!

DIY and other stuff

So I found this really awesome DIY tutorial for scarves made out of t-shirts on stumbleupon. Its from college fashion, here's the link:

I'm like really terrible at sewing so I try to avoid DIYs with a lot of sewing involved. This one had zero sewing involved so of course I had to try it and here are my results:

The shirt I used was $5 at Dollar General, but of course you can use any t-shirt you wish. The tank top I'm wearing is from Free People.
In other news, I have a new shoes crush. And I am really crushing hard because I will probably never actually buy these because of the price tag. Maybe they will go on sale one day *sigh*. The worst part is I've been seeing them everywhere lately. Well, here they are, the very beautiful Jeffrey Campbell Litas:
Aren't they just gorgeous? And finally, if you all are interested in a laugh check out Who Wears this Shit. It's an awesome and hilarious blog written by my best friend, Abby. She points out the questionable items that are being produced by far too many brands these days. Too funny.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
