"The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides."- Audrey Hepburn

The Audrey quote because I'm so feeling her look right now. However, because I have been unfortunately unable to grow the "cojones" to chop off my hair like hers, I am in need of a celebration for my current hair length. So I decided to curl it! Now for those of you who know me, you know that my hair is extremely thin and straight, so you are probably thinking, "Those curls will never stay!" I thought the same thing so I did my best to make sure they would stay for as long as possible!
This is what my hair looked like at the beginning of the day.
This is what my hair looked like after a full work day.
So the curls did fall a bit but I am pretty impressed with the results! Now I am going to share my secrets with you!
Things you will need:
1) Volumizing mousse or spray
2) A hair dryer
3) Bobby Pins
4) Curling Iron
5) (Tons of) Hair spray
(optional: heat protection spray, round brush, clips, bandana/scarf)

Step 1- Wash your hair but use less conditioner than you might normally use. When you get out of the shower, comb out any tangles in your hair and part your hair. Towel dry a bit so that your hair is not soaking wet and apply your mousse or spray. I use Pantene Pro-V Mousse for fine hair which I purchased at Wal-Mart.
This is what one little curl pin looks like!
Step 2- Use your hair dryer to dry your hair completely. You can use your round brush a bit if you want, but I chose not to in order to avoid smoothing out any volume. After the hair is completely dry, I sprayed the crap out of my hair with hair spray. My hairspray is called Diamond Shine 24-hour firm hold hairspray. I purchased this from Sally Beauty Supply.
Step 3- Curl it! Use your curling iron to curl 1-2 inch sections of hair. When I curl my hair I use clips to section it, but you can curl it how ever you are comfortable! After you curl each section, use bobby pins to pin each curl in a little circle against your head.
Ready for bed!
Step 4- After you have finished pinning all of your curls, spray your hair again with hairspray. After that I took my hair dryer and put it on high heat low air speed and warm my curls for a minute or two.
Step 5- Almost done! At this point you should have a head full of little curls pinned down. If you think that your curls will stay you can take out the pins after an hour or so, spray and go. If you don't think they will stay and you have done all of this in the evening you can wrap your hair in a bandana and go to sleep! Wake up in the morning, take you pins out and smooth it out and you're good to go!
I hope you all enjoyed this! If you try it please let me know what kind of results you get!

"All right, yes, date and shop and hang out and go to school and save the world from unspeakable demons. You know, I want to do girlie stuff."

So sorry about my weekend break from blogging. Regardless, I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! Sadly I have very little excuse for not blogging other than being poolside for most of it and forgetting my camera.

But now I'm back! and quoting Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Actually the reason for the title is because I recently watched an older episode of Buffy and began to remember exactly how much I enjoyed that show. It's easy to start picking apart some of the fashion on that show. Whether it be Willow's fuzzy sweaters and bright red hair, or Cordelia's style, which seems to be a mix between prep and hooker, this show always keeps you guessing. Because I was a child in the 90's I like to observe the fashion with as much nostalgia as I do the TV shows, but I find myself cringing at what was popular back then!

That being said, the episode that I watched was called "Faith, Hope and Trick" and it was the very first episode featuring a character named Faith. Faith is a vampire slayer also. Now, for those of you that know anything about the show might be thinking, "Wait, I thought there could only be one slayer!" You are correct...almost! Buffy actually died and was resuscitated. When she died a slayer named Kendra was chosen, and when Kendra died Faith was chosen! We meet Faith after her watcher (which is the slayer version of a personal trainer) was killed by this really, really, really old and powerful vampire named Kakistos.

Here are some screen shots of Faith from that episode. She really has a signature style and she's a bad ass.
here's a shot where you can see Faith's arm tattoo which further adds to her badass-ness
On the bottom right you can see Faith getting her groove on with a man who is actually a vampire who she is seducing so that she can slay him! But it looks like those pants might need some slaying!
Here's a close up of that top, which looks slightly broken here. Faith seems to think it's "five-by-five," though.
Faith was really into the tight top/leather pants combo. Though I have to say she rocked it!
I love this shot! Right before this Kakistos says: "I guess you need a bigger stake, Slayer! HAHAHAHA!" Looks like she found one!

I also have to say that in this episode, I think that they tried to make Buffy look super innocent to make Faith look super badass! I hope you all enjoyed reading this post and that I didn't bore you with my ramblings about Buffy! I will hopefully have a new outfit post tomorrow, but until then, ta ta!

Experiment: Can a pair of shoes transform an outfit?

I found myself in a bit of a shoe dilemma this morning when I got dressed. I put on a simple white dress, a denim shirt (as a light jacket), and then I couldn't decide: heels, sneakers, or sandals? I tried on all three and loved them all, but still felt very differently about the outfit with each pair of shoes. Let me know what you think, can shoes transform an outfit?

Pair of Shoes # 1 : High Heels

I think that these give the outfit a dressy, girly look. This is actually what I ended up wearing for most of the day because I liked the sophistication that the heels gave me. As a 20 year old that gets mistaken for being under 16 way too often, sophistication is important to me.

Pair of Shoes # 2 : Sneakers

I think that these shoes give the look a more playful look. Just as an FYI, these shoes are brand new, I just got them today. Also, it was really windy when I was taking these which is why my hair is consistently in my face.

Pair of Shoes # 3 : Sandals

Now I am an avid shoe collector, so I normally don't like to wear flip flops unless I'm going to the beach or pool because I feel that they are just too casual. However, sometimes if I'm just running around all day I like my shoes to be very comfortable. Also, I think that the flip flops with this outfit give it a beach-y, laid-back look.
